>Oh dear! It was a day of miracles and laughs and tears. Are you interested yet?
BBJ recognizes our church building and the tears begin as soon as we park. She knows that Nursery is coming, and she loves us to think that she hates going.
We found a seat in the Chapel, near some friends, and BBJ forgot her tears. She played with toys and climbed all around and generally had a great time. Yesterday was Fast Sunday, which means that the members of the congregation skip two meals, donating the money that would have been spent to the church to buy food for those that have none. We also pick a special thing to pray about (a request, or just something we’re thankful for) and meditate on that “thing” during the duration of our fast. During our chapel services, we have the opportunity on this day to come forward and share our testimonies.
One fairly shy sister, from Jamaica, got up and shared her testimony. LoGung gave up trying to understand her after about 1 minute – he has an awful time understanding anyone that didn’t grow up in America. (Remember, English is his second language, after all!) I understood her, and she told us a few very cute stories. One involved the younger members of our congregation – this sister loved to hear them cry because her mother always told her that the babies that cried the most had the best singing voices later on!
As if to prove her right, BBJ joined us in singing the closing hymn. She snatched the hymnal from her daddy and sang along (making up her own notes and words, of course) for the entire three verses of the closing hymn. As the organ played the closing chords, she realized that sacrament services were almost over..and nursery came next. (Don’t ask me how a 22 month old knows this – she just does!) That’s when the crying commenced.
We bundled her off to Nursery anyhow – Lo Gung and I have classes to teach, and BBJ never cries for more than a few minutes, anyhow.
At the end of class, her Nursery leader told me they had witnessed a miracle that day – in the last five minutes of class, BBJ actually climbed down off of her chair and played on the slide with the other kids! This has NEVER happened before. BBJ spends her two hours in Nursery either being held or sitting on a chair, watching all the other kids.
Miracles do happen!
>Miracles do come true!!!!! Way to go BBJ!!
>Sounds like you have a lovely church – I love the thought of your little one singing along! The Broken manhttp://theblogofabrokenman.blogspot.com/
>@ Broken Man – It IS a lovely church, despite all BBJ’s protests otherwise. Even as she’s crying, she’s reaching for her nursery leaders’ arms. Welcome to our little corner of the internet!
>Thanks for coming to my site. I loved you blog. I think most of us are evil at least 12 %. Your daughter is a doll. Those cookies would make me sin.
>Can’t imagine how anybody scores as high as 12% on that test! Do people really do those things? Sorry, I really didn’t think most people did that stuff….
